Dr. Leonard's Story

Dear Friends:

I would like to invite you to join me on September 27, 2014 for the JDRF Tampa Bay Chapter’s 2014 Dream Gala: Mad for a Cure Motown Edition when I will be presented with the Living and Giving Award for my contributions to the Diabetes Community! The event chairs, Nicole Johnson (Miss America 1999) and Rob Canton (EVP Finance, Tampa Bay Lightning), will present this award. They have put together what promises to be an exciting evening including a silent auction, dinner, music, dancing, and an amazing live auction. This year’s event will be held at the A La Carte Event Pavilion in Tampa.

I have chosen to team with JDRF because of the fact that I have T1D (40+ years) and have dedicated my career to treating many patients with diabetes. We all know someone whose life has been changed because of diabetes therefore I am encouraging you to participate in the 2014 Gala. I look forward to working with JDRF and exceed last year’s donations with even bigger results in 2014. I am personally setting a goal from my friends and former patients to raise over $50,000!! Please join me in my very personal mission! Please give as generously as you can.

We want to make a real difference and this is our chance!

JDRF's goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until we achieve a world without T1D. I believe in JDRF and know that we will turn Type One into Type None! The organization was founded by concerned parents and these events provide significant support for the research that is changing lives. One of the best things about JDRF is that over 80% of their expenditures go directly to research and research related education.

The more than 26 million Americans with T1D are counting on us!

Sincerely,

David R Leonard M.D. F.A.C.E.
